IVF Acupuncture Research

British Medical Journal   Manheimer, et al., (2008) meta analysis of the effects of acupuncture to pregnancy rates for women having IVF:

  • Seven trials with 1366 women undergoing IVF were included in the meta analysis.
  • All studies were Randomised Controlled Trials.
  • All studies involved acupuncture treatment on the day of Embryo Transfer (ET).

CONCLUSION: The authors of the meta analysis concluded that there was preliminary evidence to suggest acupuncture done on the day of ET improves pregnancy and successful births.

BMJ EDITORIALAdding acupuncture to IVF improved pregnancy rates more than any other recent improvement or advance in IVF technology.
